Calgary has released a list of areas where speed cameras will be concentrated throughout May 2026. The information was published on the official City of Calgary Newsroom page on behalf of the Calgary Police Service.

This is a monthly update on photo enforcement locations. In May, speed cameras will be operating in several city neighborhoods, as well as in construction zones where workers are present.

Where will speed cameras be operating in May

In May 2026, speed cameras will be concentrated in the following Calgary neighborhoods:

  • Altadore
  • Aspen Woods
  • Auburn Bay
  • Castleridge
  • Chaparral
  • Coral Springs
  • Country Hills
  • Coventry Hills
  • Dover
  • Erin Woods
  • Falconridge
  • Glendale
  • Harvest Hills
  • Haysboro
  • Huntington Hills
  • Legacy
  • Martindale
  • McKenzie Lake
  • Scenic Acres

Separately, the police note that speed camera vehicles will also be operating in construction zones where workers are present on or near the road.

What Drivers Need to Know

The Calgary Police Service reminds drivers that the amount of the speeding ticket depends on how much the driver exceeded the speed limit. If the speed exceeds the limit by more than 50 km/h, the case may result in a court appearance.

In addition to mobile speed cameras, Calgary also operates a system of Intersection Safety Cameras. There are 57 locations in the city where these cameras can capture red-light violations. Some of them can also capture speeding at a green light—so-called speed-on-green infractions.

Why They Do This

The city and police explain that photo enforcement is part of a broader effort to promote safer mobility in Calgary. The Calgary Police Service, together with the city, continues to implement the Safer Mobility Plan and work toward the goal of Vision Zero—that is, traffic without fatal accidents or serious injuries.

For drivers, this means that in May, they should be especially careful in the listed areas, near intersections with cameras, and in construction zones. The main rule remains simple: obey the speed limit, follow traffic signs, and be cautious near pedestrians, schools, residential areas, and roadwork sites.

Conclusion

In May 2026, speed cameras in Calgary will be in operation in 19 city districts, as well as in construction zones where workers are present. The police remind drivers that speed enforcement is aimed at reducing accidents and improving road safety.
