Canada is allocating an additional $235 million to Ukraine. This was announced in Brussels by Defense Minister David McGinty and Foreign Minister Anita Anand.
McGuinty said that Canada, together with its NATO allies, will join in the purchase of key defense capabilities in the United States for a total of approximately $500 million. Canada's share in this package will be $200 million.
During the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, Anand announced an additional $35 million in support of the Alliance's Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine.
According to the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these funds will enable NATO to:
- provide Ukraine with medical equipment,
- personal protective equipment,
- communications equipment,
- logistical support,
and will also contribute to the training of Ukrainian military personnel and the restoration of critical defense infrastructure.
