Canadian airline Air Transat will gradually suspend flights from December 8 to 9 after a 72-hour strike notice from the ALPA union, which represents 700 pilots of the company and tour operator Transat AT (TRZ.TO), which is listed on the Canadian stock exchange, said on Sunday, according to [Reuters](https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/sustainable-finance-reporting/canadas-air-transat-suspend-flights-following-strike-notice-pilots-union-2025-12-07/? utm_source=chatgpt.com).
The Air Transat Pilots Association (ALPA) said Air Transat pilots could go on strike as early as 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, December 10.
The Canadian carrier called the strike notice “premature” given the progress at the bargaining table and said it had offered compromises, including:
- a 59% pay increase over five years;
- improved working conditions.
“There is still time to avoid a strike, but if significant progress is not made at the bargaining table, we will strike if necessary to achieve a modern contract,” said Bradley Small, president of the Air Transat Master Executive Council.
Air Transat is working with the union to reach an agreement and avoid a strike, but will completely suspend operations until December 9 to prevent delays for passengers and crews, Transat AT said.
