Serhiy Koba was detained in Canada. The search was conducted through Interpol channels. He is suspected of embezzling UAH 2.7 million while working as director of the Volodymyrteplo municipal enterprise.
According to the investigation, when the investigation intensified, the official left on a business trip to Lithuania. After the trip, he did not return to Ukraine. Koba subsequently resigned from his position by sending a letter by mail.
It is reported that he also sold his house for $210,000. After that, he remained abroad. According to information from open sources, he was spotted at a ski resort in Canada.
The former deputy's whereabouts were established, in particular, thanks to his activity on social media. After that, Canadian law enforcement officers detained him.
Proceedings are currently ongoing. The issue of Sergei Koba's possible extradition to Ukraine is being decided.
