Man With A Movie Camera / With Original Live Score by Taras Luka is a special event in Calgary that combines film and live music in a single venue. It will take place on April 19, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Canyon Meadows Cinemas, with doors opening to guests at 6:45 p.m. The format of the evening is not a typical film screening, but a live cinematic concert, in which Ukrainian-Canadian composer and pianist Taras Luka performs his own contemporary musical accompaniment live to Dziga Vertov’s legendary silent film Man With a Movie Camera (1929).

The Man Behind the Camera project reimagines one of the most influential films of avant-garde cinema through contemporary original music, which Taras Luka performs live during the screening. As a result, viewers are treated to a full-fledged audiovisual experience, where images and music unfold in real time, creating a new emotional interpretation of the classic film.
