Опис події
On Thursday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m., a rally in support of Ukraine, organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress—Calgary Chapter, will take place at Municipal Plaza in Calgary.
The goal of the event is to remind the Canadian public and the international community that Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine is not over. Russian troops continue to attack Ukrainian cities daily, destroying civilian infrastructure and endangering civilians.
On June 15, Russia launched another massive attack on Ukraine, deploying 611 attack drones and 70 missiles of various types. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and other Ukrainian cities came under attack. The shelling damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. There have been fatalities, including five State Emergency Service rescuers who were helping people and clearing up the aftermath of previous strikes.
Unfortunately, such attacks are no longer isolated incidents. This is the reality Ukrainians face every day. In recent months, Russia has significantly increased the number of missile and drone strikes, posing an even greater threat to the civilian population and placing an even heavier burden on Ukraine’s air defense system.
That is precisely why it is important to keep talking about Ukraine, to support the Ukrainian people, and to not let the world grow accustomed to war. Every public demonstration helps draw attention to Russia’s crimes, express solidarity with the victims, and remind the world that Ukraine continues to need international support.
The organizers are calling on Ukrainians, friends of Ukraine, and all concerned residents of Calgary to join the rally. Participants are asked to bring Ukrainian flags, posters, and other symbols of support for Ukraine.
Let’s come together to support our people, honor the memory of those who have died, and once again declare loudly: the war continues, and Russian aggression must not go unnoticed.
