The Document Processing Centre (Passport Service) in Toronto has changed its policy on storing completed documents: they are now stored for up to six months from the date of arrival at the centre.
This is important news for those who cannot come immediately after their passport/ID has been issued and are concerned that the document will be sent back.
What exactly has changed
Previously: a shorter storage period (often 3 months, depending on the practice/notifications of the center).
Now: up to 6 months from the date of arrival of the document at the Toronto office.
After the storage period ends, the documents may be sent back to Ukraine (this is also stated in the official explanations of the Passport Service).
How to check the arrival date and readiness status
The center recommends checking the arrival date of documents and readiness status on the official website in the “Document Processing Status” section.

Where to pick up your documents
The Toronto office address is: 97 Six Point Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 2X3.
Practical tips to save time
Do not put off receiving your documents until the last week: force majeure, illness, schedule changes, or queues may interfere.
If you see that the document has already arrived, plan your visit immediately (or delegate it if the rules of your case allow it — it depends on the type of document and the requirements of the center).
Save a screenshot/application number from the status check page — this often helps you navigate more quickly when making inquiries.
In short: what you need to remember
Completed documents are stored at the Document Centre in Toronto for up to 6 months from the date of their arrival at the office.
