Block Heater 2026 is an urban winter festival organized by the Calgary Folk Music Festival team, which transforms Calgary into a large concert map with live music, community events, and a “city + clubs + festival discoveries” atmosphere for several days. The festival brings together dozens of artists and takes place in the format of several parallel events in different locations — a convenient option if you want to choose “your” evening, genre, or mood.
Key idea and format
12 events / 7 venues / 27 artists in the festival program.
In addition to concerts, the program includes master classes, panel discussions, Artist Talks, and afterparties — meaning it's not just about “going to a show,” but also immersing yourself in the festival experience.
Among the names announced in the promo are The Sheepdogs, Kathleen Edwards, and Leah Barley (and that's just part of the lineup).
Dates and schedule (2026)
The festival takes place February 5–7, 2026.

The schedule page shows concerts at Chinook Blast / Eau Claire Market on February 5 (for example: L'omelette and Tribe Artist Society).
Tickets and what may be included in the pass
The tickets page lists the Block Heater Weekend Pass (3-Day Pass) and describes that it gives priority access to ticketed festival events, as well as additional bonuses such as discounts on merchandise and access to a separate festival event (see pass details).
It also states that children under 12 can attend events free of charge with an adult pass holder (according to the terms and conditions on the ticket page).
Tip before buying: check the ticket/description of a specific event for the time, location, and entry rules (some venues may have their own restrictions, such as age or event format).

Who is this festival for
Block Heater is a good fit if you:
- love live performances and want to see several artists in one weekend;
- want a networking atmosphere and events “around music” (talks, panels, meetings);
- are planning a winter weekend in Calgary and are looking for a ready-made cultural program.
How to prepare to get the most out of it
- Choose 1-2 “anchor” events and treat the rest as a bonus (this way it's easier not to get overwhelmed).
- Allow time for travel between locations (the festival is multi-venue).
- If you are purchasing a pass, review the description to see which events are ticketed and whether additional registration/tickets are required for certain formats.
