The Ukrainian Film Festival in Alberta in Calgary is a three-day festival of contemporary Ukrainian cinema, set to take place April 10–12, 2026, at Globe Cinema. The event will feature a selection of internationally acclaimed films about Ukraine, its contemporary experiences, war, identity, memory, and human resilience. The Calgary festival is part of the Ukrainian Film Festival in Alberta, which will also take place in Edmonton in 2026, and Globe Cinema is known in the city as a venue for independent and festival cinema.

The program for the Calgary leg of the festival includes the films 2000 Meters to Andriivka (2025) by director Mstislav Chernov, Viktor (2024) by director Olivier Sarbil, The Editorial Office (2024) by director Roman Bondarchuk, and Two Sisters (2025) by director Lukasz Karwowski. According to the organizers, these are powerful contemporary works that have already received international recognition and are noted for their profound stories of resilience, culture, personal choice, and the Ukrainian experience during wartime.

Among the screenings in Calgary, Viktor is scheduled for April 11 at 6:00 PM, The Editorial Office for April 11 at 9:00 PM, 2000 Meters to Andriivka for April 12 at 4:30 PM, and Two Sisters is also included in the Calgary program. The organizers position the festival as an opportunity for audiences to see some of the most important examples of contemporary Ukrainian cinema and to gain a deeper understanding of the stories shaping today’s Ukraine.

The festival is co-organized by the Alberta Society for the Advancement of Ukrainian Studies, the Peter and Doris Kule Centre for Ukrainian and Canadian Folklore, the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, and the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies. The event is also held in partnership with the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre at MacEwan University and with financial support from Razom for Ukraine and the Alberta Ukrainian Commemorative Society.
