On May 21, 2026, the Ukrainian community in Calgary will join in celebrating Vyshyvanka Day—a special day dedicated to Ukrainian culture, traditions, heritage, and the unity of Ukrainians around the world.
In 2026, Vyshyvanka Day holds special significance, as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the tradition. It is not only an opportunity to wear a vyshyvanka but also a chance to show respect for Ukraine’s centuries-old culture, support national identity, and demonstrate the unity of the Ukrainian community in Canada.
Ukrainians in Calgary are invited to wear a vyshyvanka throughout the week in their daily lives: to work, school, meetups with friends, coffee, a walk around town, or any other activity. On this day, the vyshyvanka becomes a symbol of remembrance, dignity, beauty, strength, and connection to Ukrainian roots.
The celebration will also feature various activities throughout the city. Participants are invited to follow updates on the UCC Calgary page, where more details about events, meeting locations, and opportunities to join the celebration will be posted.
This is a wonderful opportunity for Ukrainians in Calgary to come together, support Ukrainian traditions, meet other members of the community, and showcase the beauty of Ukrainian culture to the city.
Put on your vyshyvanka and join the celebration of Vyshyvanka Day 2026 in Calgary!
